Shane Robinson
CANDIDATE FOR THE OFFICE OF
House of Delegates, District 39
NOVEMBER 2, 2010 ELECTION
2010 Maryland General Election
CANDIDATE STATEMENT
I am a nonprofit management professional serving as a senior associate at the Coulter Companies. My wife and I live in Montgomery Village and we are expecting our first child in November.
Since my time in the Peace Corps I have been committed to improving people's lives through my work in the nonprofit sector. From digging wells in rural Zambia, to advocating for communities on Capitol Hill, I have worked hard to make sure our lives are better. As a listener, a collaborator, and a skilled project manager, I know that together with the District 39 team I can bring the change we need to our communities.
Investing in Our Future:
As a son of teachers I believe that we need quality education to provide opportunity, increase economic competitiveness, and drive innovation. I will fight for school construction funding so our kids can learn in the best environment.
Creating Jobs & Protecting the Environment:
I will work to expand our public transit system so we can reduce vehicle emissions and decrease congestion. I support modernizing our energy grid and increasing the percentage of electricity that we get from renewable resources.
Promoting Healthy Communities:
While serving as a health volunteer in the Peace Corps, I witnessed firsthand how the lack of health care can devastate families and communities. I am a proponent of universal health care with an emphasis on prevention, and I believe that a healthy economy begins with the health of individuals and families.
